7/16/16: Emergent Savannah Partners With The MPC For Comprehensive Plan Hearing

Emergent Savannah recently partnered with the MPC to facilitate the Comprehensive Plan Hearing. Citizens were asked to share their vision of Savannah and identify what still needs to be done. The Comprehensive Plan helps shape the community by identifying issues, opportunities, and priorities and allocating resources accordingly.

6/30/16: Emergent Savannah Hosts Activists from Black Lives Matter, Black Trans Lives Matter and Raise Up.

Emergent Savannah held its first ever Stories & Strategies session at Sulfur Studios! The quarterly series connects community organizers and activists together to learn more on what strategies work in different communities and how best to move forward. For our first session, we were honored to have hosted Atlanta/Newport News based organizers Ashleigh Shackleford, Shan Davis and Tyrell Cooper, collectively working with Black Lives Matter, Black Trans Lives Matter and Raise Up. We were also honored to have Candace and Erika Hardnett of Agape Empowerment Ministries facilitate the session and create a space for dialogue, as well as act as local stewards of the community conversation.

5/18/16: Emergent Radio Launches On Savannah Soundings Featuring AJ Perez!

Emergent Savannah is excited to announce that we are launching Emergent Radio with WRUU – Savannah Soundings, hosted by Emergent’s own AJ Perez!! Emergent Radio is dedicated to educating people and advocating for the local Savannah community by creating thoughtful conversation and encouraging personal action. You can listen to Emergent Radio from 7-8 pm once a month on the 4th Monday of each month–catch the first episode this Monday at 7PM!

5/12/16: Lead Organizer Courtnay Papy Awarded Greensboro Justice Fellowship

Lead Organizer Courtnay Papy was one out of five people in the southeast to be awarded the Greensboro Justice Fellowship by the Highlander Center. She will participate as a fellow for the 2016-17 year. The Greensboro Justice Fund Fellowship at Highlander is a learning and relationship building fellowship. The fellowship will provide multiple opportunities and ways for learning for community action, and is meant to enhance team building among fellows to increase their perspective on community initiatives in which they are involved.

5/10/16: Emergent Savannah Awarded Grant by Downtown Neighborhood Association

Emergent Savannah was awarded a $1500.00 grant by the Downtown Neighborhood Association to directly support their work with Monday Means Community. Emergent was excited to receive the grant alongside other grant recipients like ArtRise Savannah, The Frank Callen Boys Club, The City of Savannah’s Tourism Management Plan and many more!

4/15/16: Emergent Savannah Awarded Matching Grant

Emergent Savannah is excited to announce that they have been awarded a matching grant for $5000.00! The matching grant will kick off our first ever fundraising campaign to meet the matching grant.
