Emergent Savannah, in partnership with Art Rise Savannah, is excited to announce a Call For Entry for our annual Artists of Social Change show!

We are inviting artists living in the the State Street/Avondale/Victory Heights neighborhoods to work collaboratively with a neighbor to create art inspired by the beauty and possibility found in that pocket of Savannah.

The show is called Beauty & Possibility: Exploring the State of the State Streets. Our guest curators are Tania June Sammons and Gigi Starks, neighbors in the Gordonston area (bordering the Avondale/state street area). Tania was a guest host during ES’s Roving Listener project last year and her experience has been an inspiration for this year’s theme. Our mission with Artists of Social Change is to have guest curators help create an event that empowers individuals by asking them to work alongside one another for a greater cause: strengthening our communities. Through creative practices, we are looking to build relationships amongst neighbors that may not otherwise interact – or haven’t gotten beyond a simple ‘Hello’. What can we say… We love to bring people together. In today’s social media landscape, many people feel bombarded with examples of social division and this project is an opportuinty to push back against the narrative of otherness.

If the idea of creative community collaboration resonates with you, check out the call for entry posted below. If you’ve got any questions, shoot us an email at info@emergentsavannah.org.

We are really excited about this year’s project and look forward to hearing back from you!

Warm Regards,
The Emergent Savannah crew
